]]> 1968 Corvette "The Skunk" This is my 1968 Corvette. The Big Block dynoed at 587 HP. This car is not a show car, drag car, nor daily driver. It is simply my fun driving weekend car. I rarely get to see this car from a pedestrian's point of view, since I am usually the one driving, so we decided to make this video while cruising around town. The burnouts were just for fun. The paint scheme is influenced by Baldwin & Motion SS427 / Phase III / GT Corvettes. I have tremendous respect for the Motion cars, but unfortunately I cannot afford a real one, so this is as close as I can get. Thanks to my wife and my pal Weeman for their help with this video. I hope that you like it.

This is a rare 1968 427/435 convertible with a 4-speed 4:11 transmission and a wide ratio M-20 shifter with wide oval rally wheels. The vehicle has been restored back to original condition in its entirety. It hasn't been over-restored in order to conserve its originality. The engine was taken out and rebuilt to original and the engine bay was newly painted as well. The exterior of the car has been newly painted, the electric system was redone and the heating core was redone. Even the suspension of the vehicle is new. The car is optioned with a heavy duty spring leaf system and power brakes, astro ventilation system, with a matching body color hard top as well as a rag top. The vacuum system operating the lights and the stow-away windshield wiper system has be redone, the fiber optic electric light system has also been redone. The paint color is a stunning international blue code 978, the interior is a medium blue and the sound of the engine is pure unbridled power. O novo desenho trazia faróis escamoteáveis duas grades frontais para entrada de ar para o motor 427 V8 de 430 cv das versões L88 e também dos modelos de 300 cv. Outro detalhe era a possibilidade de remover o vidro traseiro eo teto na versão cupê (que durou até 1977). Em 1969 entrou o novo motor, o 350 V8 (5.733 cm³) small-block, que atingia a potência máxima de 300 cv. Em 1971 a Chevrolet insere o big-block, um V8 de 454 pol³ (7.440 cm³) que produzia 425 cv e equipava a versão ZR2 enquanto que o modelo básico vinha equipado com o V8 350 de 270 cv. Assim como o L88, foram produzidos apenas 20 ZR2. À partir de 1972, com a crise do petróleo e novas políticas quanto emissões gasosas, deu-se início a uma queda de potência e cilindrada dos motores. O big-block esteve em linha até 1974 com potência máxima de 270cv. O 350 V8 de 1975 possuía apenas 165 cv. Novamente houve modificações de estilo e motorização em 1977. O Corvette mostrava linhas ainda mais angulosas, nova traseira inclinada e frente mais estreita. Adotava o motor L82 de 180 cv, baseado no tradicional V8 350. Outra opção era o L48, com o famoso carburador Rochester Quadrajet, que elevava a potência para 185 cv. O carro atingia 197 km/he acelerava de 0 a 96 km/h em 7,8 segundos, boas marcas para aqueles tempos difíceis.
